Three hours of sleep is a wonderful thing. Show was great last night. Aussies go crazy for hard rock. And boy did the band deliver. Soundcheck got off on the wrong foot. Someone screwed with Brian’s bass back in the States, so the first thing out of his mouth was, “What did you do to my bass?” “Uh, took it out of the case, Brian?” That was the start to my roadie career. Great!?!? Everything went smooth after that and Brian and Dave were happy in the end. I guess I get the job. Once again, . . . Great!?!?
Hardest part with these guys is that they like to mix it up every night regarding the songs they play. And they don’t make a final set list until an hour before the show. I have a list of the bass and guitar tunings for each song they potential will play throughout the year. I then have to quickly write down all tunings for the night and post the list on the back of some amps in my “guitar world.”
O.K., let get down to business, BEING A ROADIE IS GRUELING!! Showering, clean clothes and healthy food is on an “as available” basis. And we haven’t gotten to the tour bus part of the tour, yet. Steve tells me to cut down on expenses, when the band uses a tour bus, they get one hotel room for all ten members of the entourage to shower, shave and . . . you get the idea. That leg of the tour starts when we get to Europe. This will be interesting.
